EDI

Direct and continual communication between companies involves the use of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). These electronic interchanges improve response time, reduce paperwork, and eliminate errors.

Although today there are a number of EDI layouts, there are only two widely recognized:

Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT)

X12

These standards define the data formats and encoding rules required for a multitude of business transactions, including order placement and processing, shipping and receiving, invoicing, payment, and many others.

Time Software has years experience at quickly getting businesses up and running with EDI. The services we supply in this regard are as follows:

	Establishing trading relationships between you and your electronic trading partner.
	Organizing for you a credible translation service provider to do the mapping and translation of your files from flat file to EDIFACT/X12 or vice versa.
	The FTPing of your mailbox files into flat files for internal processing. This processing may involve file parsing and splitting up its contents into fields to be written to database tables.
	The reverse process of the previous service. This involves gathering information (typically from a database), constructing a file and FTPing it off.
